Today marks a celebration of black beauty. It's easy to get bogged down with the expectations of what is beautiful. As an African-American or even a person of color, living in a world where European features are deemed beautiful only pressures you to fit into that into that mold.
This movement was first started on Tumblr as a way for African-American users to connect using this simple tag. It soon transformed into a social movement that encouraged men and women of color to feel beautiful within and show off their irreplaceable beauty.
Do not feel the need to conform to Eurocentric beliefs of what is beauty; do not be afraid to be yourself! Break that mold and celebrate what makes you unique and BLACKOUT!
Join BSU in the celebration of #365DaysofBlack! Tell us what you love the most about YOUR black beauty. Tag us in your photos and use the hashtag #BlackOut
