Unfamiliar with the Black Student Union? Here are some answers to frequently asked questions.

What is the Black Student Union?

 

The Black Student Union or BSU is a student organization on the campus of UNC-Charlotte used to unite Black students on campus and foster a sense of pride in our culture through programs, fundraising activities, retreats, meetings, membership outings and more.

How Can I get involved?

 

At the beginning of the fall and spring semester BSU holds an interest meeting in which students get a chance to learn about the organization, pay dues, get a t-shirt and join a committee of their choice.

Where is the Black Student Union?

 

There isn't a specific place called the "Black Student Union," but we have an office located in the Student Union SORC room 212 U. There is always a member in the office, so if you ever want to stop by, get questions answered or just chat, don't be afraid to do so!

 

 

 

Do I have to be "black" to join?

 

Although, BSU was founded in order to unite black students on campus, there is no racial requirement in order to join. We accept all interested members and encourage everyone to join, help plan a program or attend events.

Where and When does BSU meet?

 

We meet bi-weekly on Tuedays at 6:30 pm. We meet in various buildings around campus, so be on the look out on Instagram for publicity on the location.
