Messy Monday: Chris Brown, Karrueche, and more!

After recent interviews filled with talks about settling down and the rumor mill spinning with the gossip about Chris Brown and model girlfriend Karrueche Tran expecting a child, people started gaining their faith back in Brown. He seemed to be slowing down with the drama and really trying to focus on his music career and his relationship with his on-again, off-again girlfriend. That is until Monday, November 3, when Brown responded to comments made by Adrienne Bailon and Tamar Braxton on their talk show “The Real.” On the show the panel criticized Karrueche for her decision to continue to date Brown despite his past mistakes and reputation.
Obviously offended by their comments, Chris Brown took to social media to rant about his anger. He posted a picture of Adrienne Bailon with a long message on Instagram calling Bailon and Braxton out for the slander. The post got rather messy and consisted of personal attacks on the two women more than anything else. While one can say that the two deserved it for speaking on a situation that is none of their business you also have to remember that Brown and Tran are public figures. They made their lives and relationship public and therefore they should have to deal with the public and press commenting on it. The real issue here is with way that Chris Brown responded. Known for his anger issues and acts of violence, the Instagram post only dug a deeper hole for Brown as he handed his critics more ammunition to attack his character. Brown’s Instagram post sparked a lot of commentary on other social media outlets especially Twitter were even loyal fans admitted their distaste for his actions. While some totally sided with Brown and how he is always receiving backlash because of his former mistakes I chose to look over his past and evaluate the situation objectively.
Responding to his post Tamar took to Instagram to state that neither her nor Bailon ever meant any disrespect to Tran or Brown but they will not tolerate the disrespect Brown has inflicted upon them. To make matters worse, Tran then made a post slamming the host and also stating that Brown “has no chill” but that she shouldn’t be mad for Brown’s response because “if you can dish…you gotta be able to take it…” So maybe Tamar and Adrienne should not have commented but as talk show hosts their job is to speak on people and situations that are current in pop culture. Brown and Tran are both celebrities who have been filling up the media and can often be seen as a “hot topic.” They discussed their situation without meaning harm but just doing their job. But just as they have their freedom of speech and freedom to express their opinions, so does Brown. Brown could have gone about this situation a variety of ways but he chose to not only respond to the women but also personally attack and slander them. Brown resorted to calling them “bitches” and “thots” and his response was not only disrespectful but showcased his lack of maturity. Though Bailon and Braxton discussed Tran they were in no way as disrespectful to her as Brown was to the two ladies. Brown’s retaliations were well intentioned but poorly executed and only resulted in more controversy that will be blamed solely on him.
